34,146 Residence and Work Permits Issued via the Foreigners’ Portal in Serbia

Since the launch of the Foreigners’ Portal on 1 February this year, a total of 34,146 applications for a Unified Permit for Temporary Residence and Work for foreign nationals in Serbia have been approved as of 30 November, according to the Serbian government. In November alone, 3,635 unified permits were issued.

The Unified Permit for Residence and Work is issued as a biometric document in the form of a card.

The Office for IT and eGovernment of the Government of the Republic of Serbia announced that applications for the Unified Permit can be submitted electronically through the Foreigners’ Portal, either by the foreign national or by their employer on their behalf.

The portal was developed and launched by the Office for IT and eGovernment in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, and the National Employment Service. It provides an electronic service for submitting applications for the Unified Permit for Temporary Residence and Work of foreign nationals in Serbia.

If the application is submitted by the foreign national themselves, they must have an account on the Portal for Electronic Identification. If the application is submitted by an employer, the employer must have an account on the eGovernment Portal as a legal entity, and the legal representative must also have a registered account.

All that is required is for the legal representative of the legal entity to log into the eGovernment Portal and authorize someone to submit the application for the Unified Permit on behalf of the legal entity by assigning them the role of “Foreigners’ Affairs.”

Additionally, through the Foreigners’ Portal, it is possible to apply for a Type C visa, which allows for a stay of up to 90 days and is issued for tourism, business, or other travel, allowing for single, double, or multiple entries into Serbia.

Applications can also be submitted for a Type D visa, which allows for a stay of 90 to 180 days and is issued for reasons such as employment, education, family reunification, and similar purposes, the statement adds.
