Official unemployment rate in Kyrgyzstan makes 1.8%
The number of unemployed citizens in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 70.6 thousand people in 2025, the press service of the country’s Ministry of Labor, Social Development and Migration said, Kabar reports.
According to data of the ministry, the official unemployment rate in Kyrgyzstan as of January 1, 2025 was 1.8%.
At the same time, the number of employed people is 2 million 656.2 thousand people. The number of vacant jobs reported to employment services as of January 1, 2025, amounted to 27,941. Among them, the demand for blue-collar jobs prevailed.
As of January 1, 2025, 5,384 jobs remained unclaimed from the previous year, with 13 people applying for one vacant job. The number of citizens who applied to employment services in 2024 amounted to 154,732 people. Of these, 110,656 people received consultations on labor and employment legislation, the possibility of vocational training and retraining, and the choice of profession. During the reporting period, unemployment benefits were assigned to 179 unemployed citizens, the report said.
The department noted that one of the main tasks of the employment service is to assist in employmen.
During the reporting period, 17,983 unemployed citizens were employed with the assistance of the employment service.
Notably, the unemployment rate fell in Almaty in 2024.
