Average salaries in 2024
The average net salary in December last year was 108,312 dinars, the State Statistical Office (RZS) announced today.
The average gross salary calculated for the last month of 2024 amounted to 148,428 dinars, which is nearly 10,000 dinars more than the previous month or 8,000 dinars more in terms of net salary.
The growth of gross salaries from January to December last year compared to the same period in 2023 was 14.2% nominally and 9.2% in real terms, while the average net salary increased by 14.1% nominally and 9.1% in real terms.
The median net salary for December 2024 was 79,624 dinars, meaning that half of the employees in Serbia earned less than this amount in December.
Where are the highest and lowest average salaries?
In December, the average salary in Belgrade was 139,204 dinars, in Novi Sad 128,622 dinars, and in Niš 103,302 dinars. Looking at the whole year, the average was slightly lower.
Over 12 months in 2024, the average net salary in Serbia was 98,143 dinars, while in the capital, it was 124,010 dinars, the highest in the country.
Even within Belgrade, differences in average salaries in 2024 were significant. The highest earners were employees in Stari Grad, with an average salary of 176,214 dinars, followed by Vračar at 168,265 dinars, Savski Venac at 160,731 dinars, and New Belgrade at 158,987 dinars.
Residents of Mladenovac earned nearly 40,000 dinars less than the city average.
The average net monthly salary in 2024 in this Belgrade municipality was just 81,605 dinars, while in Sopot it was 82,163 dinars, and in Barajevo, the average was just above 84,000 dinars.
In 11 out of 17 Belgrade municipalities, the average salary in 2024 was over 100,000 dinars, whereas outside Belgrade, this threshold was surpassed in only four places – Novi Sad, Lučani, Bor, and Majdanpek.
In Novi Sad, the average net salary for last year was 114,397 dinars, and salaries in Bor were in a similar range at 113,893 dinars, while in Majdanpek (101,288 dinars) and Lučani (100,601 dinars), they just crossed the symbolic threshold.
In several places in Serbia, average salaries in 2024 were significantly below the median salary and only slightly above the national minimum wage.
Average monthly salaries below 70,000 dinars in 2024 were recorded in Vlasotince, Lebane, Ražanj, Svrljig, Blace, as well as in Crna Trava (66,925 dinars). In Preševo, the average was 65,985 dinars, while Bojnik had the lowest average salary on an annual level at just 65,698 dinars.
The difference between the average salaries in Belgrade’s Stari Grad municipality and Bojnik is 110,516 dinars.
