Unemployment rate at 8.6% in Q4 2024
In Serbia, in the fourth quarter of 2024, the number of unemployed people was 273,100, with an unemployment rate of 8.6%, the National Institute of Statistics reported yesterday.
The number of employed people was 2,894,900, with an employment rate of 51.4%.
According to data from the Labour Force Survey, the population outside the labor force was 2,462,200 people, with a rate of 43.7%.
Compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year, the number of employed people increased by 50,700, while the number of unemployed decreased by 11,600 and the number of people outside the labor force dropped by 65,300.
The employment rate increased by 1.1 percentage points, while the unemployment rate decreased by 0.5 percentage points, as did the rate of the population outside the labor force, which fell by one percentage point.
Compared to the third quarter of 2024, there was a decrease in the number of employed people by 28,600, an increase in the number of unemployed by 16,000, and a rise in the population outside the labor force by 6,300.
The overall informal employment rate was 11.9%, with a rate of 48.5% in the agricultural sector and 6.8% in non-agricultural sectors.
