Vučić: Pension increase possibly before December, Kragujevac factory needs workers
“I will try to have pensions increased a month or two before December,” Vučić said.
When asked by journalists how that would be possible since the current law does not allow for it, Vučić responded, “We will change the law.”
He could not specify the percentage by which pensions would be raised, especially while a mission from the International Monetary Fund – with which Serbia has a three-year advisory arrangement – is currently visiting the country.
Vučić also stated that the Stellantis car factory in Kragujevac, in which the Serbian state is a minority shareholder, is in need of 1,000 workers.
“One hundred thousand vehicles will be produced in Kragujevac this year, which will contribute to the growth of our gross domestic product (GDP). I call on people to apply for jobs at the car factory, where salaries will range from 84,000 to 92,000 dinars,” he said.
He emphasised that there is no shortage of jobs in Serbia, but rather an excess of demand for workers.
Speaking about upcoming factories, he said that the state-owned enterprise for the trade of arms, military equipment, and technology transfer, “Jugoimport SDPR”, will soon arrive in Zaječar. “First one facility will be established, then another, and after that we’ll look to secure two more in Prahovo and Negotin, as we need them for gunpowder charges.”
He stated that this would provide employment opportunities in Zaječar and that he had not misled the public when he recently announced that the city would be getting a new factory.
