Unemployment Status in Ukraine: How to Apply Online and Amounts of Financial Assistance
In Ukraine, individuals seeking work can obtain unemployment status, which provides the opportunity to receive financial assistance. The status can be applied for both in person and online through the ‘Diia’ portal. The online application process takes about 10 minutes, and the review period for the application is 1 business day. The service is provided free of charge and is available for individuals aged 15 to 70.
Amounts of Financial Assistance
The amounts of financial assistance depend on the unemployed person’s insurance record. The maximum payment limit is four times the minimum subsistence level for working individuals. As of January 1, 2022, this amount was 21,924 hryvnias. For individuals with an insurance record of less than 2 years, the amount of assistance is:
50% of the average salary — for less than 2 years of experience;
55% — from 2 to 6 years;
60% — from 6 to 10 years;
70% — for individuals with an insurance record of over 10 years.
Payments are provided for 90 calendar days at 100% of the allocated amount, the next 90 days at 80%, and thereafter at 70%. The total duration of payment cannot exceed 360 calendar days, and for individuals of pre-retirement age — 720 days. The minimum unemployment assistance at the beginning of 2022 ranged from 650 to 1,000 hryvnias per month. The minimum assistance is received by individuals dismissed for reasons leading to liability, those whose insurance record is less than six months, and young people looking for their first job.
To apply for assistance online, you need to follow several steps:
register on ‘Diia’,
fill out the application,
choose an Employment Center,
enter your social account number,
upload documents, and
sign the application.
These simple actions will allow you to obtain unemployment status and the corresponding financial support in Ukraine.
Obtaining unemployment status and financial assistance is an important element of social protection in Ukraine, especially in the context of economic challenges and instability in the labor market.
The online service ‘Diia’ simplifies the application process, which, in turn, may contribute to a larger number of people receiving the necessary support. This can help not only in addressing personal financial issues but also in reducing the unemployment rate in the country, as the availability of financial assistance may encourage individuals to seek new employment opportunities.
