AIR CHINA to launch direct flights to Georgia from September
“tourists from China traditionally choose long-term tours and are characterised by high spending power. The increase in the frequency of direct flights will contribute to the arrival of more visitors from China, which will have a positive impact on the dynamics of the development of the tourism and civil aviation sectors, as well as give an additional boost to bilateral trade and economic relations”, Kvrivishvili said.Photo:airchina.us
The largest Chinese airline AIR CHINA is interested in launching direct flights between Georgia and China from September, the country’s Civil Aviation Agency said on Wednesday.
The state Agency said AIR CHINA was considering operating flights between Tbilisi and Ürümqi three times a week.
Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili emphasised the visa visa-free travel regime between the two countries “gave an additional impetus” to deepening cooperation in the civil aviation sector.
“China is a new priority destination for the Georgian tourism sector. Tourists from China traditionally choose long-term tours and are characterised by high spending power. The increase in the frequency of direct flights will contribute to the arrival of more visitors from China, which will have a positive impact on the dynamics of the development of the tourism and civil aviation sectors, as well as give an additional boost to bilateral trade and economic relations”, Kvrivishvili said.
The Deputy Minister added that the Georgian Government was actively negotiating with other Chinese companies regarding the start of flights from different cities.
