Kazakhstan falls behind OECD countries three times in labor productivity
Kazakh Labor and Social Protection Minister Svetlana Zhakupova said Kazakhstan falls behind the OECD countries three times in labor productivity that led to a migration of labor resources from the agrarian sector to the services sector and trade, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The minister said the Government carries out programs aimed at entrepreneurship development and industrialization. As statistics claim, for the past 10 years programs have shown insufficient efficiency. Irrespective of the active state stimulus package contribution of the private sector job generation makes just some 20% that is four times less as compared to the OECD countries. Thereby, growth in new workplaces is driven by low low-productivity sector and state sector.
At the same time labor market boasts a steady growth with 420,000 people joining the market in the last five years since Kazakhstan has one of the youngest populations in the world standing 106th among 237 countries.
