Geostat: Pension and social assistance data for 2024
Geostat recently published data on Georgia’s social assistance and pensions, showing that a total of 864.3 thousand people received such benefits in 2024, while women accounted for 70.8% of pension recipients. Region-wise, the biggest number of pension-receiving people resided in Tbilisi (30.5%), followed by Imereti (15.6%), Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (10.3%), Kvemo Kartli (10.2%), Kakheti (8.6%), and other regions (24.8%).
Notably, 185.4 thousand people received some sort of social package in 2024, with 67.3% of these having gone to men. The majority of social benefits recipients were people with disabilities (71.1%), followed by war participants (13.1%), survivors (11.3%), state compensation recipients (4.4%), and other beneficiaries (0.1%).

Tbilisi – 27.5%
Imereti – 15.9%
Adjara – 12.1%
Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 9.4%
Other regions – 35.1%
When it comes to social assistance, 390.8 thousand families were recorded in the social program registry in 2024, with 128.6 thousand families receiving subsistence allowances. Interestingly, Tbilisi had the highest (77.1 thousand) number of registered families in the database, of 33.2 thousand households receiving financial aid in the capital.
