Nealy 9,000 resettled to Kazakhstan’s labor-deficient regions in 2024
In 2024, 8,950 people, including 3,000 ethnic Kazakhs and 5,950 re-settlers, were relocated from labor-surplus to labor-deficient regions under voluntary resettlement aimed at increasing labor mobility, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The ministry said in a statement that state assistance was rendered to all those relocated.
According to the ministry, Pavlodar region took in 3,422 people, North Kazakhstan region – 2,547, Kostanay region – 1,020, East Kazakhstan region – 781, Akmola region – 537, Abai region – 530, Ulytau region – 70, and Karaganda region – 43.
Kazakhstan welcomed a majority of ethnic Kazakhs, numbering 1,072, from Mongolia, followed by 908 from Uzbekistan, 762 from China, 164 from Russia, and 94 from other countries.
Out of the 4,279 working age re-settlers and ethnic Kazakhs, 2,721 were provided with permanent jobs, 207 people involved in entrepreneurial activities, and 25 received grants for doing business. Those relocated were employed in healthcare, agriculture, education, industry and so on.
Under voluntary resettlement, those relocated received the following state assistance:
relocation subsidy: a lump sum of 70 MCI for a householder and each family member;
monthly subsidies for rent and utilities for a period of 12 months. The amount of the subsidy ranges from 15 to 30 MCI, depending on the number of family members and the region of relocation;
short-term vocational training;
assistance in employment or engagement in entrepreneurial activity;
provision of economic mobility certificates.
In addition, employers facilitating interregional resettlement are granted a one-time employment subsidy amounting to 400 MCI for each employee provided with housing and a permanent job for at least two years.
It was earlier reported that 18,035 ethnic Kazakhs have returned to the historical homeland and obtained the status of kandas since the year beginning.
