A new business insurance program the protects against war risks has started in Ukraine.
In Ukraine, the first five companies have applied for property insurance against war risks under a new government scheme, said Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. She stated that among the initial applicants is Suziria Group, a group of companies from Kharkiv, close to the frontline. “Despite the war, they have maintained jobs in a front-line city: one of the offices and logistics and production facilities. For the company, the new mechanism from the state has become one of the opportunities to plan its development even amid war risks”, Svyrydenko said, adding that the other four applicants are also companies from front-line regions.
Svyrydenko noted that the new program, which was requested by businesses that are facing constant Russian strikes on enterprises and infrastructure, functions in two ways: direct compensation for losses for companies in front-line regions and partial compensation for insurance payments for businesses across Ukraine.
For frontline territories, the maximum compensation from the state is ₴10M ($230,000) for property damaged or destroyed since January 1 2026. The requirement for participation in the program is a one-time payment of 0.5% of the total estimated damage risk.
