Kazakhstan has a million new jobs on the horizon
The task to create employment for around a million citizens this year was given by Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov to his government at a meeting on sustainable employment on June 25.
According to Svetlana Zhakupova, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, employment for 948 thousand Kazakhstan citizens must be ensured in 2024. At present 37% of the target are accomplished: about 353 thousand people, including 148 thousand youths, have found work.
137 thousand people have secured state-subsidized jobs this year. The Head of State’s initiative “100 new jobs for every 10 thousand people” has helped over 97 thousand find employment; employers’ vacancies have been filled by over 103 thousand, and national project programs have employed some 16 thousand.
According to Prime Minister Bektenov, creating a maximum number of permanent jobs, including those for young professionals, should be the concept behind “Development of the Labour Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024-2029”. It is also important to interact with employers to help graduates find a job inside their professions.
The protection of the rights of Kazakhstan citizens working abroad was also discussed at the meeting.
The Prime Minister said that contracts should give Kazakh citizens reliable guarantees of timely paid salaries and well-provided medical services.
