Ukraine, Norway extend transport visa-free system until Sept 30
Ukraine and Norway have agreed to allow Ukrainian road carriers to operate without permits until September 30, 2024, Ukrainian media said, citing the Restoration Ministry’s press service.
A respective commission will meet in August 2024 to discuss an extension of the transport visa-free system with Norway for a longer period, Deputy Restoration Minister Sergei Derkach said on a social network.
“Our task and goal is to allow Ukrainian road carriers to operate without permits in as many countries as possible. We have agreed with Norway to extend the previous agreement and hope that the transport visa-free system will be prolonged shortly,” Derkach said.
Liberalized cargo transportation will enable Ukraine to increase the amount of transported cargo and to integrate into the European and global transport systems, he said.
Liberalized cargo transportation applies to vehicles of Euro-5 or higher standard. Truckers must have a certificate confirming the environmental class of their vehicles, Derkach said.
The transport visa-free system with Norway expired on June 30, 2024, after being in effect for one year since August 2023.
Ukrainian road carriers enjoy the transport visa-free system with 37 states, including EU members. Apart from Norway, the Ukrainian Restoration Ministry has concluded liberalized cargo transportation agreements with North Macedonia, Turkey, Moldova, Georgia and Montenegro over the past year.
