The highest-paid jobs in Serbia
The Serbian labour market has undergone significant changes in recent years, with certain professions offering exceptionally high salaries. According to the latest data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia for January, some occupations deviate significantly from the country’s average salary, creating new opportunities for professional development.
From a statistical perspective, the highest average net salary is in the production of coke and petroleum derivatives, amounting to 330,000 dinars. This is followed by crude oil and natural gas extraction, with an average salary of 297,000 dinars. These sectors require highly specialised professionals and offer stable jobs with good working conditions.
However, the availability and number of high-paying jobs in these sectors are limited. Below, we highlight not only the highest-paid positions but also well-paid jobs that are more accessible to a wider group of citizens and offer good career growth potential.
The IT sector as a leader
The field of information technology has held the top spot in earnings in Serbia for many years. Software development, in particular, stands out, with an average salary exceeding 292,000 dinars, while some experts earn more than €5,000 per month. This sector is constantly growing and has a continuous demand for new professionals.
Aviation and high salaries
Pilots are traditionally among the highest-paid professionals in the country. The uniqueness of this profession lies in its long training process and the need for constant improvement. With an average salary of around 232,000 dinars in air transport, jobs in this sector require a high level of expertise and responsibility.
Scientific research
The field of scientific research and development has seen significant salary growth. The average salary in this sector reaches 206,000 dinars, making it one of the most promising career paths. This is particularly evident at a time when Serbia is investing substantial funds in scientific infrastructure.
The media and film industry
The cinematographic and television industry shows great potential for high earnings. The average salary in this sector exceeds 142,000 dinars, driven by the increasing number of international productions choosing Serbia as a filming location.
Management positions and consulting
Jobs related to management consulting bring an average income of approximately 170,000 dinars. This field is experiencing stable growth due to the increasing need for expert advice in business management.
Financial sector
Financial services have traditionally been among the better-paid professions, with an average salary of around 175,000 dinars. Banking, insurance, and investment consultancy are particularly prominent for their high earnings.
Manufacturing industry
Branches of the manufacturing and processing industry offer an average salary of 96,000 dinars, although certain segments stand out, such as tobacco product manufacturing, which pays 155,000 dinars. This indicates that traditional industries can still be a source of significant income.
Marketing and market research
Advertising and market research bring an average salary of around 126,000 dinars. This field is continuously growing due to the increasing demand for marketing services and market analysis.
Among the highest-paying sectors are also coal extraction (143,000 dinars), metal ore extraction (177,000 dinars), telecommunications (166,000 dinars), chemical production (124,000 dinars), and the production of basic pharmaceutical products (140,000 dinars), among others.
The Serbian labour market is highly dynamic and is creating new opportunities for professional development. It is important to note that salary levels often depend on individual skills, experience, and specific competencies. Continuous improvement and keeping up with market trends are becoming crucial factors in achieving high earnings in any sector.
