Serbia to lift minimum wage by 9.2% as of 1 Jan 2027

Serbia’s government said it has decided to increase the minimum monthly net wage by 9.2% to 70,470 dinars ($703/ 600 euro) as of January 1.
The new amount of the minimum wage will be valid through December 2027, the government said in a press release on Thursday.

The government will also increase the non-taxable portion of minimum wages by 9.2%, to 37,369 dinars, finance minister Sinisa Mali said in a press release earlier this week, following a meeting of the Social and Economic Council, which brings together representatives of the government, employers and trade unions.

Effective January 1 this year, the government increased the minimum monthly net wage by 10.1% to 64,554 dinars, following an extraordinary 9.4% hike in October 2025.

In the second quarter of 2026, there were about 2.36 million employed persons in Serbia out of a population of around 6.55 million, the statistical office has said.

Mali said earlier this month that fewer than 100,000 workers in Serbia are paid the minimum wage. Typically, the government is updating the minimum wage once a year.

In May, the minimum consumer basket in Serbia cost 57,188 dinars, according to the most recent data available from the trade ministry.

In July, Serbia’s annual consumer price inflation slowed down to 1.9% in July from 2.7% in June.
