The Polish labor market for Ukrainians; how much do they earn?
The National Bank of Poland (NBP) has released updated employment data concerning Ukrainian nationals and their earnings within Poland. According to the report, over 90% of Ukrainian citizens who relocated to Poland prior to the outbreak of war are presently employed. The median net salary for Ukrainians working in Poland is approximately PLN 4,500 (₴52,000/$1,228), which remains lower than the median monthly income earned by Polish citizens.
Furthermore, the NBP has noted improvements in employment stability among war refugees. In 2023, 26% of refugees were employed under unstable contracts; by 2025, this proportion had decreased to 17%. This encouraging development is attributed to favorable conditions in the Polish labor market and migrants’ active integration efforts. Presently, 14% of refugees in Poland are unemployed, representing a decrease from 25% two years prior. However, refugee unemployment continues to be 300% higher than that observed among Polish citizens, although the number of self-employed refugees is on the rise.
Additionally, as of December 1 Poland has introduced significantly increased administrative fees for obtaining work permits for foreign nationals, including Ukrainians.
